NamaMusic: Rough Jazz by Infinity Project, hosted by Omid and DJ ESP
The first thing you may have heard by Omid was the now classic "Beneath The Surface" compilation. How did he get it going?
He was a big fan of the L.A. underground rhymers and really connected to the Goodlife / Project Blowed scene. One day he was in a studio with CVE and O.M.D. and P.E.A.C.E. came through. So did Longevity (Darkleaf) and Sesquidpedalien. It was a real random gathering and he did this song "What Up" and it inspired him to do a full project of brining together his favorite MC's. It was a long process which took 2 years to complete, but it was worth it. "Beneath the Surface" was his tribute to his favorite artists in L.A., and his action truth process of bringing them all together as a movement.
As things grew, he also dialed in on an interesting Dj Named ESP who spun for OMD and some of the others on Beneath The Surface. Namasteezy had been working in Video Promotions at the time ESP and Omid first started connecting and had been doing everything it could to support Omid projects. But it would be some time before Omid and ESP got something out together. Eventually Namasteezy Relocated to Sf,Ca where it continued to support from a distance, however on one return trip to LA, Ca Esp and Martel worked out an agreement that set a huge process into motion, the Uninfluenced by Intensity Music project.
ESP made sure to bring things together in a way that would help Namasteezy far into the future. And that future is now.....
Esp made sure to bring something special together, something that had an Enlightenment Factor. The songs were produced more along the lines of how Horace Tapscott would have done it, and was actually a kind of tribute to him. Community figures in the project blowed scene came together to honor the old activist and to explore creative and interesting ways of doing things. Several of the songs are up to twenty minutes long, and the artists wanted to expand their styles and do music that people who are into jazz and electronica would appreciate, as far as the melodies, original rhythms and concepts.
Namasteezy makes music to connect with people, its much more than a 3 minute wam bam thank you marketing scam.... Its about getting involved and understanding the activism and struggle of low budget artist studios that pull many mediums together to share one message.
What do we need? PEACE
Which is another reason Namasteezy selected ESP and his friend Omid..... Omid is from the middle east, from Iran and when those middle eastern music practices meet rough jazz, expressed by Hip Hop people - YOU KNOW the music is going to move you with the power of Rumi/ sufism/ and you will be able to meditate on it in the spirit of "Shreem", which is a yogic term.
Surf the net, and follow the fun, supporting the project along the way.....
